End of Season

Well, the end of the 2011 golf season has arrived. The prep to put the course to bed for the winter has begun. Tee boxes and greens have all been aerated and dressed. The plan to replace the sand in all 35 bunkers has been 60% completed. The grounds crew have also begun to expand the practice green and will enlarge the warm-up driving area. These improvements will definitely be a welcome change to our members and golfers.
It has been a super season for golf with the next to perfect weather, no bugs and a increase in golfers visiting this area. We extend a huge thank you to all our golfers and hope you all have a warm and healthy winter. Hopefully some of you will be enjoying the challenges of golf in warm climates.

Autumn Golf

Well, with all the great fall colors of the birch, poplar and ash, and the beautiful reds of the sumac, it’s okay to be not scoring well.
Autumn golfing at Granite Hills Golf Course has been great. The gorgeous weather and the pristine condition of the fairways and greens are a good reason to be enjoying your golf game.
We have been very fortunate to have perfect weather conditions for most of the 2011 golf season. Despite the wet conditions in May and June, most courses
must be recording above average rounds.
We take this opportunity to thank all golfers who have golfed at Granite Hills this season. We hope to continue to see you on the tee for the seasons to come.
On Thanksgiving weekend, Sunday & Monday, we will host a “Customer Appreciation Day”. Come out and take advantage of great golf savings and a chance to win 4 passes with carts.

2011 Golf season is here, and the start of it leaving us all hoping this is not a taste of what’s to come. Today we finally saw clear, sunny skies, just in time for our first tournament. It was a grand day with many golfers sporting shorts and sunny smiles.
The course is in superb shape and playing as in mid summer conditions. Work is being done on a large flower bed by the first tee. Golfers will have a chance to smell the flowers while waiting for their tee time.
Leagues will start next week after the long weekend. with Men’s 18 hole on Mondays, Ladies 9 hole on Tues. and Men’s 9 hole on Wed. evening. Call the pro shop to register.
Forecast for the week is sounding optimistic, so call for your tee time or book online. Each time you book on line you enter a chance to win a round for 4 with 2 power carts.

Well after our brief look and taste of spring, we are now sitting with the fireplace blazing and watching the snow come down…….MAY 1 is what the calendar says. Well with our opening date of Friday May 6, we are hoping that the weather predictions are correct and the temperatures will be in the mid teens.
The moisture will definitely help the grass, but warm rain would have been our choice.
The Pro Shop is stocked, staff is ready, memberships are selling and golfers are stopping in for gift cards and rate info. It is nice to see many people back from their southern winters and vacations and getting ready for the 2011 golf season at Granite Hills.

Ladies League will again be on Tuesday evenings and Men’s league on Mondays. Call us if you are interested. A start date for both leagues will be determined and posted soon.
