Welcome to the 2010 Golf season.
Wow what a great winter! With most of my friends and staff escaping to what we thought were warmer climates, we were notified by our families and anyone unfortunate enough to have to stay home, that this was not so bad. Winter was not what it normally should have been. Okay, that still won’t convince me that we should stay behind next year. Mother Nature still won’t allow my husband to golf here Jan, Feb, and March. Yes, we have golfed here during the months of Dec. and April, but it does not happen often.
Well it looks like this might be a season to finally put golf courses on the prairies back on track. Golf courses can start the season with an optimistic goal for 2010.
Granite Hills opened for business for the 2010 season on April 17. Many courses in Manitoba opened prior to this date. We haven’t had these early opening dates for a few years. Let‘s hope that this will be a golf summer to remember. – Great weather, rain, only during the nights, very little or no mosquitoes and many golfers teeing it up would make this possible.
Granite Hills has come through this winter in terrific shape. The condition of the course is excellent. Our super reports that very little or no damage to most fairways and greens have occurred.
We welcome Golf Manitoba to the course in July to host the Men’s Mid Amateur Competition. The dates are July 26, 27, 28 & 29th. This will bring some of Manitoba’s best golfers out to Granite Hills. We anticipate a good turnout & wish good luck to all the participants.
My Staff and I wish all golfers a long , warm and fun season, and thank you for teeing it up at Granite Hills.
